For this GC 3710 project, my team of 6 utilized the brand Skims to curate a new product line, Skims Workwear!
Initial Product Approach
Many women face the struggle of finding professional clothing that fits them well and makes them feel comfortable and confident. Without having to worry about what they're wearing, women can perform better in the workplace. Skims Workwear, a line of professional-looking products produced by Skims, is the solution.
Vision
The ultimate goal of this clothing line would be to empower women through attire that fits them like a glove. The line includes a blazer, a pair of trousers, and a pencil skirt. There would also be free tailoring at pop-up shops.
Research
Our team surveyed 80 women either in or entering the workforce in a variety of fields. We found that 100% look for comfortable workwear, 96% struggle looking for workwear, 92% look for style, and 87% look for a good fit. Skims Workwear would increase confidence in women at work by providing a more flattering fit in stylish designs and the signature, comfortable Skims material.
Key Insight
As a woman, I relate to the want to feel confident in a professional setting. My clothing is something that I am constantly mindful of since it sits on my body, can gap in the wrong places, and not make me look flattering. If I don't feel good about myself in what I'm wearing, then I'll be thinking about it all day, taking my mind away from my work. Skims Workwear is meant to fit every woman just right, making them more confident and thus, more productive.
Big Idea
Show. Up. Confident.
A woman should never have to sacrifice comfort for style and confidence. Being comfortable, stylish, and in clothing that a woman feels flatters her will have her dressed for success!
